Block Party Uneven Coins Block

Final size is 16" x 19" including sashing

Skill builder: Modern variation of the traditional Chinese Coin block

Directions:
  1. See pages 72-74 in the Block Party book
  2. Background: cut one fat quarter, about 18" x 22", cut into 1" - 3" wide x 18" strips
  3. Main fabrics: 10-15 pieces assorted fabric strips, 3" - 8" long and 1" - 3" wide
  4. Cut each background fabric strips about in half
  5. Choose main fabric strips that are about equal width between each background strip pair, and sew them together.
  6. Trim these strips evenly lengthwise
  7. Sew together all the strips into a block
  8. Trim the block to about 12.5" x 15.5"
  9. Add 2.5" strips of background fabric to each side
  10. Trim final block to 16" x 19"
*Note*
Don't cut your background strips too narrow or your block may loose a lot of length because of all the seams! My block ended up only being 13" long and I had to add 2 more strips.
