Skill builder: Templates & Applique. This block uses paper templates and 2 different applique techniques
Directions:
- See pages 57-61 in the Block Party book
- Print the templates from here.
- Background: cut one 16" square
- Main fabrics: 20 pieces assorted fabrics, about 3" x 6" each, cut into wedge shapes using the template
- Center circle: One fabric 5.25" square, cut into a circle using the template
- Lightweight interfacing: One piece 5.25" square, cut into a circle using the template
- Follow directions in the book for piecing and applique directions
- Note: The photo here is a variation of the Modern Dresden that is presented in the book. This variation uses the same wedge template, but with the short ends cut straight instead of rounded, and does not use the circle template. To make the pointed wedges, use the video tutorial here, (starts at 3:21).
