Fabric Post Cards; November 2015

We had a great program this month on making Fabric Post Cards presented by Katy and Barbara. They brought many examples of the fabric post cards. Also, showing us how to put them together and encouraging everyone to use their creativity to implement all kinds of different techniques. The post card is small and easy to complete for all skill levels. There are many different types of applications such as applique, fancy machine stitching, or add embellishments. We thought it sounded so fun that we decided to have anyone that wanted to participate make one and exchange it at the December meeting.
You can find more examples on our Pinterest page here.

Christmas  Party

Our December meeting is going to be a Christmas Party. Please bring a dish and recipe to share. We will be having a fabric post card exchange for those that would like to participate. Your post card will be put in a brown paper bag and each person will pick one up off the table. Also, there's will be a dirty Santa gift exchange. If you want to participate, bring a $10.00  gift. It doesn't have to be quilt related. All gift exchanges are fun and optional. Please bring what you are working on to show and tell.

Becky will be giving us a short introduction to Tula Pink.
As always, we would love to see you at the meeting. You are welcome to stay and sew until close at 3pm. For more info on where we meet, please see the top of the page under meetings.
Have a great holiday!

3 Stitchettes Templates Demo, Improv Christmas Trees; October 2015

Our program for October this month was how to use  Martelli's templates by the 3 Stitchettes. Juliette, Suzette, and Janie are sisters that we are happy to have as charter members. They do videos tutorials for Martelli's on you tube. Martelli's has been very generous sponsor to our guild. Here is a video of what you might have missed at the meeting. They shared lots of information about different templates, thread holders, and roundabout cutting mat. After the break, they brought tons of amazing giveaways for the members as well. We thank them for their generosity

Triangles; July 2015

Our program this month was about the Sidekick Ruler by Julie Herman of Jaybird Quilts.
We learned how to use it to cut perfect equilateral triangles, and looked at some of the patterns
that she has written that are made to go with it.
This is the Jaybird Quilts Sidekick Ruler:

Low Volume; June 2015

June's program was about low volume. We discussed all the different types of low volume and how to determine whether a fabric is low volume. The definition of low volume is as fabrics that “read” as white or light fabrics but at the same time have a secondary pattern or design.

Greek Cross Block; May 2015

Welcome to the very first blog post of the Pensacola Modern Quilt Guild. We are so excited that the first meeting was a huge success.  The founding members (Yvonne, Becky & Donna) put tons of hard work and countless hours of planning into getting everything ready, and it was worth it!  We enjoyed meeting and seeing all of you there and sharing the joy of modern quilting.  Becky did a wonderful presentation on Modern Quilting and introduced our first block for a modern
Quilt of Valor with red, white and blue fabrics.
